How to use the free Google Calendar to manage your busy schedule

Organize your home and work schedule using Google Calendar. It’s free and easy to use!

Are you still using a paper calendar to keep track of your work appointments, doctor appointments, school activities and birthdays? Sure it works but do you want to carry it around with you wherever you go? Google Calendar will allow you to view your calendar from your mobile device and share your schedule with family members. It will even send you alerts to remind you when you have an appointment!

Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Create a Google account

Sign up for your Google account…it’s simple and free. Once that’s done, head over to Google Calendar where you will see the default weekly schedule. To view by day or month you can choose from the options on the top right of your screen.

Step 2: Create your Calendars

The left column has a menu with a My Calendars button and an arrow that you click to add calendars. You can have calendars for anything you want including a personal calendar, appointments, birthdays, etc. You can even color code each of your calendars to make it easier to see what is on your schedule.

Step 3: Add Events to your Calendars

Simply click on a date and time to create and add an event to your calendar. Then click on the event to add details, assign it to one of your calendars and then click on the Save button. You now have an event on your calendar!

Step 4: Get your Calendar on your mobile phone

Download the Google Calendar app onto your mobile device and you can have access wherever you go. Feel free to share your schedule with whoever you choose or import other family member’s schedule into your calendars so you can keep track of what they have going on as well.
